北京市第三十三中学始建于1930年，是一所有着70多年历史的老校。学校现有校舍两处，总占地面积9176平方米，建筑面积达到8890平方米。其中本校校址位于北京市西城区复兴门外大街乙20号，毗邻北京标志性文化建筑设施――首都博物馆新馆；分校校址位于北京市西城区白云观街北里11号，与距今已有1200余年历史，北京现存唯一规模最大，历史最悠久的道教宫观――白云观为邻。学校共设有教学楼两座，综合实验楼一座；建有设施完备、现代化水平较高的物理、化学、生物实验室6个。附属有先进的语音教室、计算机房、教师电子备课室，全部授课教室均按多媒体电化教学标准配置；建有一个能够同时容纳400人的多功能大礼堂。

　　北京市第三十三中学具有雄厚的师资力量，现有教、职人员107人。其中具有高级职称的教师22人，具有中级职称的教师44人。

　　北京市第三十三中学坚持“以质量求生存，以特色求发展”，教学质量始终保持在北京市西城区同类校的前列。每年都有一大批毕业生考上理想的市、区重点高中。学校十分注重学生创新能力和实践能力的培养，于1999年成立了“5247”（取“我爱社区”的谐音）小队。青年志愿者走进社区、服务社区，与全国著名的基层模范单位――“汽南社区”共同建立了学校社会实践基地。学校以社区为依托，开展了“见习居委会主任”和培训奥运英语等活动，充分利用学校资源推动了社区精神文明建设。

　　2000年，北京市第三十三中学借北京申办2008年奥林匹克运动会的契机，大力发展自己的英语特色办学。此举，在国内外引起很大反响，《人民日报》、《北京日报》、《中国教育报》以及中央电视台、北京电视台、中国教育电视台、香港电视广播公司、美国哥伦比亚广播公司、英国路透社等几十家中外新闻媒体对此进行了大量跟踪报道。学校从2001年开始招收英语实验班，目前实验班的工作已逐步走上了良性循环的轨道，在各类全国及市、区级比赛中，实验班学生表现不凡，且各科成绩在年级中均处优势。

　　当前，北京市第三十三中学全体教、职人员正在以王秀玲校长为核心的学校领导一班人的带领下，为将北京市第三十三中学办成具有“一流管理、一流质量、一流环境、一流校风”英语教学特色闻名的精品学校而努力奋斗！ Beijing No.33 Middle School established in 1930 has a long history of over 70 years. It has two campuses, one is in No.20 (B), Fu Xing Men Wai Street, which is next to the Beijing signature building ---the Capital Museum, the other is in No.11 , Bei Li of Bai Yun Guan Street, next to Bai Yun Guan. The teaching facilities are fully equipped including a 400-seat modern multi-functional hall, as well as six laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology. Additional facilities include an electronic audio-visual classroom, one language lab, two computer rooms and a classroom with electronic equipment for teachers to prepare lessons. In addition, six multi-media classrooms are available for students.

　 No.33 Middle School currently has 107 staffs, 22 of which have senior professional titles.

　 Beijing No.33 Middle School has been running in a better way according to the rules and regulations of the country and has achieved remarkable achievements. The teaching quality remains the best among similar schools within Xi Cheng District. The school has been awarded titles “advanced School” in teacher's morale, teaching management, adolescent education, electronic equipment, as well as health and nutrition by the district and the municipal government in recent years.

　 Beijing No.33 Middle School insists on “surviving on quality, developing from specialty” , paying more attention to the creative and practical abilities of the students. The school set up the Group 5247 (the homophone of I love my community), and founded the social practical base with famous local model unit-- Qi Nan community jointly; the youth volunteers give service to the community. With the support of the community, the school launched different activities to promote the cultural and ideological program of both school and community.

　 In 2000, taking advantage of Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing No.33 Middle school has been developing with specialized instruction in English that has become popular both within and outside China. Reports on the school can be found in many mass media, such as People's Daily, Overseas Edition of People's Daily, and also China Central Television, Central People's Broadcasting Station of China, and Hong Kong Television Broadcasts limited, American Columbia Broadcasting System. Since 2001, the school began its English Experimental Class, which has been in a virtuous circle, and the students of English Experimental Class have been rank first-rate in lots of different contest.
